Hi! I’m Rachelle. I am a wife and mother of 2 girls ages 6 and 8 and a 1 year old boy. This blog represents all that I have learned about life since I was a child until now. I hope you will walk this journey with me and share your own experiences.
Some interesting things about me: I grew up playing piano and viola, and I love to sing. I do love the outdoors and doing crafty things (but the last few years these have been limited to my kids’ activities instead of my own card making).
My undergraduate degree is a BA in Psychology from Baylor University. I have 21 hours of a Masters of Social Work degree including coursework in groups, and diagnoses. Born in Houston, Texas, but I spent most of my life in Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating from Baylor, I lived in Charleston, SC for a year (and loved it), and then I moved back to Little Rock for graduate school and to work for Governor Mike Huckabee. While some of you may disagree with his political views and make a judgement about me, I will say it was an honor to work for a truly honest person.
My husband, Scott, also grew up in Little Rock, and we met during his 4th year of medical school. He completed his residency in pediatrics in San Antonio with the Army and Air Force combined pediatric program (a truly stellar program). We were married, I moved to San Antonio for 2 years, and then we were off to Germany for his duty station at Heidelberg. We have many fond memories of our 4 years there; although 1 of those years we were separated as Scott was deployed to Iraq as a physician to the soldiers and some civilians. This is an area of our lives that we would never want to do again, but we are glad that it has given us a different perspective.
Upon completing our military commitment, we moved to Waco, Texas for almost 5 years. We were thrilled to get to participate in the Baylor community, the lectures, music school, and the sports teams. We also started our family 6 months after we moved to Waco (Anna), and then Elizabeth joined us 22 months later. We loved our life there, including our church, home, Baylor, and our friends, but God had different plans for us. While we were sad to leave Waco, we truly felt He was leading us to the Nashville area, where we are today. We couldn’t be happier, and even though our hearts still sometimes grieve leaving Waco, we are so thankful to be here.
I helped start a non-profit called Cradled by Love Hope and Healing, based in Waco. www.Cradled.org We serve women and families who are experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, and early infant loss. The past few years, I have led several support groups here in the Nashville area, and with that our Tennessee chapter was born. So currently, my time is divided between church activities, school activities, traveling, cooking and planning meals, attempting to get the house in order, leading Cradled groups, my Plexus business, and spending time with my family.
This blog is also something I enjoy, as I receive my greatest joy from connecting with people. Please join along to journey with me! I’d love to hear your thoughts, too.
